DIY Natural Room Scents

Throw out all those canned room sprays and make your own natural and safe room scents using simmering waters infused with spices, herbs & fruit.

Fragrant items for naturally scenting your home:
...

Citrus - I've tried other fruits. Some of them smell good initially, but they don't hold up for more than one use. Citrus is sturdier, longer-lasting, and gives these scent recipes freshness. Lemons and oranges are particularly fragrant and have the best staying power in these scented waters.

Herbs - Any herb can be used for making a room scent, but the ones that are sturdier and on woody twigs hold up the best. My favorites for room scents are rosemary and thyme.

Pine or Cedar Twigs/Needles -- There may be other fragrant trees that will work, too; pine and cedar are the two I've tried for their appealing, fresh fragrance.

Extracts -- A touch of vanilla or almond extract improves most room fragrance mixtures. Mint extract has a nice fresh scent.

Spices - You can use ground or whole sweet spices. The whole spices look prettier, if your scented water will be in a location where it will be seen. I have found that cinnamon sticks and whole cloves have the most scent staying power. Cinnamon sticks can be rinsed off and reused several times.

Been alittle quiet but...

the gardens are still growing... however its been slow...

I have a list of 7 to deliver to here in Baytown and not much to deliver. So the hunt is on... anyone with excess fruits or veggies please give me a ring or email and I will swing by and pick 'em up and deliver them to those in need in our community.

Also, if you are able to donate gift cards for any grocery store, I'm sure those on my list would appreciate that too, as they are all on a fixed income and you know how hard it is to stretch a dollar these days.

If you or someone you know wants or needs on either the Delivery or Harvest list do drop me a email with their info and I'll get in touch with them immediately.

I'm loving the Homesteading FB page... lots of cool ideas there...   look it up!

Happy Gardening, Beth

P.S. I can provide a receipt if needed for any donation

Continuing the journey...

Hello, I have continued the Community Garden Concept in the Houston area since parting from MOW,  With several small gardens at friends houses.  I've been gathering their excess fruits n veggies and deliverying to some elderly in my neighborhood.

This season I'd like to expand... with more gardens, more tomato plants, more squash, more grapes, more everything.  In the ground or in containers.  Please call me...

*If you have space to plant something please do.

*If you have space to plant something, but not the time or know how please call me.  I will plant for you and all you have to do it water.  Cost would be approx $15 for a bag of soil, a starter plant or seeds, and a pot or border for planting.

*If you have any gardening supplies you'd like to donate... Large Pots, bags of soil, seeds, starter plants, etc

*If you are elderly, disabled or just in need of fresh fruits and veggies please call or email me to get on my list for deliveries.

I hope this project takes off and anyone and everyone in need is served.

I thank you for your time, Beth
